What I Believe!

What i teach

I believe learning is a very personal thing.

I believe the process of learning can and should be as unique as each student.  In my classes, I incorporate a wide variety of strategies to match learning styles and modalities, provide students with choices, and help them discover the best way for them to learn and be successful.

I believe when we learn about the past, we can shape the future. I love teaching and learning!

2020-2021 Will be a year like no other as we learn online during the Covid-19 Pandemic. I will be teaching 7th Grade Honors World History.  My  students and I will journey back in time to discover things about the world and the cultures that shape it. We are on a journey to learn about history, but along the way, we will learn a lot about ourselves. I will also be teaching AVID and Explore 7.  My students will learn the skills necessary for secondary school.  We focus on note-taking strategies, organization, collaboration, goal setting, and reflection.  We will be exploring current events -- there are so many things to discuss this year.  I can't wait.  Let's go!

Who Am I?

Picture
I am a lady who loves to travel. Going on adventures and exploring is one of my favorite things to do.  In the U.S. I have been to Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Wyoming, and Washington D.C.  Outside the U.S. I have visited the countries of Aruba, Canada, Costa Rica, Croatia, England, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Monaco, Mexico, Norway,  Portugal, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, and Sweden.

I can't wait for our next adventure There is so much to learn, see, and do!

I am a curious person. I like to figure things out and solve problems.

I am a sentimental person. Tears of joy, pride, and happiness are a regular part of my life.

I am a people person. I love learning about other people, finding out what makes them tick, what they believe in and why, and how to make them smile.

My History!

I was born and raised in Riverside.  I have been married to the best man in the whole world for more than thirty years. Jim is intelligent, kind, and open to adventure. We have an amazing son Alex who brings joy to our lives every day.

Before I became a teacher, I worked in the banking industry for twenty years. I left a position as a Senior Vice President and Area Manager to follow my passion and become a teacher. I obtained my teaching credential from California Baptist University and began teaching in 2012.

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Studies with a concentration in History, Humanities, and Social Science. I have degrees from Riverside Community College and California Baptist University. I also attended the Graduate School of Retail Banking and Management at the University of Virginia.
